Annaprashana is also known as Annaprashana vidhi, Annaprasan or Anna-prasanam, or Anna Prashashan is the seventh sanskar that marks an infant's first intake of food other than milk.

Annaprashan Puja is done to remove any negative traits and possible impurities that the baby has consumed from the womb of the mother. If done accurately under the supervision of experienced Vedic Panditji Annaprashan Sanskar is potent enough to help remove deficiencies acquired at birth. 

The Puja comprises mantra chanting, performing rituals, and selection of elements by kids, and finally feeding Kheer by family members with help of Silver or Gold utensils. Annaprashan is the seventh of sixteen important Sanskaar according to Hindu scriptures. 

Feeding light food in small quantities the first time to the baby is safe and does not cause indigestion. Kheer, Ghee rice, and some cooked dal are alternatives for the baby. Annaprashan must be done at the right time neither too early nor delayed for the good health of the baby.
